Salman Khan arrested in Jodhpur, sent to Jail
Jodhpur, Aug. 25: Bollywood star and Icon Salman Khan who was issued an arrest warrant by the lower court at Jodhpur was arrested today by Superintendent of Police Sawai Singh Godhara at the Airport. Khan had said before his departure in Mumbai that he was a law-abiding citizen and wanted to surrender. Khan was accompanied by his brother Sohail and lawyer Dipesh Mehta. He has been give five-year prison term given by a lower court.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate rejected his appeal and directed him to be lodged in the jail. Salman Khan’s lawyers now plan to file an appeal against the sessions court judgement in the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court today itself, though it may be heard only on Monday. A huge crowd, mostly his fans, had collected before the court apparently to have a glimpse of the 41-year-old actor. Some of them had placards supporting him.
