“Punjab will be the first State in the country to have a university for Civil Aviation.” Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in his inaugural address during the day long workshop on ‘Punjab Strategy of Human Resource Development— Employment Generation and Training’ at Hotel Mountview by the Department of Employment Generation and Training, Punjab announced this. With this, Punjab would become the first state in the country to have such a university.
Badal said he will ask the services of V Mulekar, advisor of aviation services at Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited. V Mulekar played key role in upgrading the international airport at Amritsar in 1999. Badal said that consultants and key players of the civil aviation industry will be hired to prepare the blue print of this proposed university. The ministries of civil aviation and human resource development will work upon the model and feasibilities of this university.
Badal also mentioned that there is tremendous potential in private security too. He said Punjab State Security Training Institute was being set up at Jehan Khelan in Hoshiarpur district to trained youth to be get the employment in the private security agencies as well in other security services like the CRPF and CISF. The initial intake capacity has been kept 500 which could be later on increased to 1,000
Mr. Badal announced that the State Government would make provision for creation of one lakh employment opportunities every year for the youth of the State.
