Royal Enfield India
Royal Enfield made its debut in India in 1949 with the launch of 350 cc Bullet that was marketed by the Madras Motors. The Indian Army insisted that they would do business only if the bikes were produced indigenously. Thus the manufacturing of various parts also began in the Madras Motors along with assembling. In 1955 the Enfield India Company was formed.
The current range of Royal Enfield motorcycles are built on two engine platforms. The classic cast iron engine and the Lean Burn engine developed for Royal Enfield by AVL Austria. Bullet became known for sheer power, matchless stability, and rugged looks. It looked tailor-made for Indian roads. Motorcyclists in the country dreamt to drive it.
