Virender Sehwag

Sehwag holds multiple records including the highest score made by an Indian in Test cricket (319), which was also the fastest triple century in the history of international cricket (reached 300

off only 278 balls). Asked to open the innings in Tests on the tour of England in 2002, Sehwag proved an instant hit, cracking an 80 and a 100 in the first two matches. Though he continued to

dominate in the Test arena, Sehwag’s one-day form dipped alarmingly – after January 2004, he went through a period of 60 matches where he averaged under 29.

The Delhi born cricketer has modelled his playing style on his idol Sachin Tendulkar. In 2004, he became the first Indian batsman to score a triple ton in an innings of a Test match. A consistent performer, famous for his spectacular centuries, Sehwag has delivered for his country on many occasions, however has had his down season as well, even being dropped from the ODI squad in January 2007.
