Jharkhand Election Result

While Jharkhand saw the complete dominanace of Congress in the earlier years of elections in India, it has moved towards being a stronghold for BJP. The results of the General Elections 2009 of Jharkhand reveals that the trend that has been affecting the rest of the country is having its toll in the state too, that is, there is a shifting of confidence from the dominating political parties. The previous assembly was dissolved on October 22. The state has been under President’s rule since Jan 19, 2009 after then the Chief Minister, Shibhu Soren lost a by-election and was forced to resign.

The Jharkhand Assembly election was held after a long spell of President’s Rule on account of unstable political conditions in the state, but the poll results that became available on Wednesday do not hold out the promise of stability. Congress has already made an alliance with the Jharkhand Vikash Morcha, that has secured 8 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly elections 2009.
