MUSHFIQUR RAHIM

Made his international debut, aged 16, at Lord’s as specialist batsmen, and was the ninth youngest Test cricketer and Bangladesh’s second youngest behind the 15-year-old Mohammad Sharif. He had enjoyed some success on the Under-19 tour of England in 2004, scoring 88 in the second Test at Taunton, and he showed more evidence of his gritty talents the following season, with a maiden first-class half-century to soften the pain of defeat against Sussex, followed by a career-best 115 against Northants.

Bangladesh wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim’s maiden Test century came in a losing cause as India completed a 113-run victory on the final day of the opening Test in Chittagong. After being set 415 to win, Bangladesh’s attempts to see out the day failed as despite Rahim’s 101 and 52 from opener Tamim Iqbal, they were bowled out for 301 having batted for 75.2 overs in all in their second innings.
