The Western and Central Railway services are likely to be hit on Republic Day. Motormen of both services and mail/express trains have decided to strike on January 26, 2010, to press for their salary and other work related demands. The demands of the motormen include a weekly off, more allowances and better working conditions. They will meet the regional labour commissioner on Monday to discuss the matter. “We have exhausted all democratic ways to represent our issues. Kalwa and Mumbra commuters are allowed to travel via Thane and Diva on their valid card/season tickets during the mega block on 7th February 2010.
