Badal said he will ask the services of V Mulekar, advisor of aviation services at Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited. V Mulekar played key role in upgrading the international airport at Amritsar in 1999. Badal said that consultants and key players of the civil aviation industry will be hired to prepare the blue print of this proposed university. The ministries of civil aviation and human resource development will work upon the model and feasibilities of this university.

He said Punjab State Security Training Institute was being set up at Jehan Khelan in Hoshiarpur district to trained youth to be get the employment in the private security agencies as well in other security services like the CRPF and CISF. On a tip the team of policemen raided an auto stand in the upmarket of Church Street in the city in which a rich consignment of heroin was seized. Banglore City Police Commissioner N. Achuta Rao briefed to reporters. Rao said the heroin recovered in the raid appeared to have a high level of purity and was estimated to be worth Rs60 million in the international market. He said the seized narcotics would be sent to the laboratory for tests.

This is the second narcotic seizure in the last 15 days with the police seizing drugs worth two crore rupees from the Udyan Express train on August 10. Narcotics agencies say India, wedged between two major drug-producing regions, the Golden Triangle (Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, and Thailand) and the Golden Crescent (Afghanistan, Iran and Pakistan), is a major transit point for drug smuggling to the West. According to the United Nations, Afghanistan is the world’s largest producer of opium.

Jodhpur, Aug. 25: Bollywood star and Icon Salman Khan who was issued an arrest warrant by the lower court at Jodhpur was arrested today by Superintendent of Police Sawai Singh Godhara at the Airport. Khan had said before his departure in Mumbai that he was a law-abiding citizen and wanted to surrender. Khan was accompanied by his brother Sohail and lawyer Dipesh Mehta. He has been give five-year prison term given by a lower court.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate rejected his appeal and directed him to be lodged in the jail. Salman Khan’s lawyers now plan to file an appeal against the sessions court judgement in the Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court today itself, though it may be heard only on Monday. A huge crowd, mostly his fans, had collected before the court apparently to have a glimpse of the 41-year-old actor. Some of them had placards supporting him.

“Neither is there any evidence to show as to when and where the conspiracy was hatched, if at all. The missing links are galore,” the order added. The order reads, “neither the family supports any of the wearing apparels found upon the skeleton as those belonging to Jha nor ds the postmortem supports the prosecution’s theory of Jha having been killed with two iron rod blows on his head,”. Jha was abducted and found dead in the forest of Piskamore, Ranchi.

The factors that led the case in Soren’s favour is that CBI miserably failed to prove that the dead body which found almost four year after the disappearance, as the body of Jha. Jha’s family not only disputed the CBI claims over the identification of the body but also they refused to conduct any DNA test. Further more the results of the DNA fingerprinting tests conducted at the instance of the trail court which, unambiguously, held that the skeleton was not that of Jha.

Shibu Soren could not be released from Dumka jail on Thursday because of certain technical glitches in the papers obtained from Jamtara court for his release. The division bench of the High Court today also acquitted four other people who had been held guilty of having killed Jha on November 28, 1994.

Soren is currently having one more case lodged in a Jharkhand jail in connection with a 1975 mass murder case in the state. But that is not as furious as the Jha’s case.

MUMBAI August 24, 2007: Sanjay Dutt was released just after 7 am from the Yerawada prison in Pune to avoid crowds of fans that had gathered since Monday when the Supreme Court ordered his temporary release. Sanjay Dutt walked out of jail yesterday striped white shirt and black jeans, sporting a beard and a new crew cut, walked out from the main gate. A team of policemen, led by Yerawada police inspector Prasad Hasabnis, prevented mediapersons from talking to Dutt outside the jail. The vehicle, carrying Dutt to the Lohegaon Airport, was chased by mediapersons till the airport entrance, where the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel stopped them.

Amitabh Bachchan’s reaction was crisp but summed up the film fraternity’s sentiment. “We are very relieved and happy for him,” the superstar told HT. Ameesha Patel, Dutt’s co-star in Tathastu, echoed the view: “I’m very happy and hope he doesn’t have to suffer anymore.”

Dutt flew to Mumbai on a chartered flight and arrived home to a group of family and friends who blessed his return by breaking a coconut on his doorstep. He will have to surrender in less than a week’s time before the special TADA court in Mumbai. The court has fixed August 27 as the date for him to be given the judgment copy.

New Delhi, August 24: THE Supreme Court on Friday made it clear that all unauthorised commercial structures in the Capital would have to be razed. The Supreme court rejected the plea submitted by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) of getting stay on demolition drive against illegal structures in 1500 unauthorised colonies filed by Union Urban Development Ministry and Municipal Corporation of Delhi. The appointed monitoring committee’s order dated August 14 this year had asked for sealing of unauthorized commercial establishments in the Capital.

The MCD in their Plea, stated that : As much as 40 lakhs people would be on the road if the sealing drive were not halted, but the court is firmed over this issue. A Bench of Justice Arijit Pasayat and Justice D.K. Jain issued this warning to Additional Solicitor-General Vikas Singh and Sanjiv Sen, counsel for the MCD. The Bench told counsel, “You will invite contempt. Anything which is unauthorised shall be sealed. Otherwise you will face the consequences.” “Until the policy decision translates into a law, anything that is unauthorised as per the present law has to be sealed. If not, then it is contempt of court as the sealing is being carried out on court orders.”
